The household appliances manufactured by TECO contributed to the first stage of a more convenient life for the people of Taiwan.
Between 1960s and 1970s, TECO motors brought Taiwan into the golden decade of industrial growth. In the early 1970s, there was not only a global recession, but Taiwan was also forced to sever diplomatic ties with the UK as well as with a whole range of other countries. However, TECO moved against the trend and built an electronic plant in Tanshui, and daringly promoted Mr. Huang Mao-Hsiung, now chairman of TECO, to be the manager of the plant, who was just 31 years old at that time, and had been entrusted with the development of TECO's business of electronic and household appliances.

After laying the foundation of basic industry for Taiwan at the first stage accompanied by the increase of national income, the household appliances provided to the public with a more comfortable and convenient way of life and living environment, and the manufacture of household appliances led TECO from the motor industry to another peak of business as well. Chairman Huang recalled, "When I returned to Taiwan in the 1970s, TECO motor was already leading the market, and TECO needed to have new product line to fit the new growing period to extend the g rowing force of TECO." And now, TECO's household appliances ranging from air-conditioners, television sets, refrigerators, and washing machines to drying machine, are all ranked among the top 3 in the market place. This is the result of the persistence and long time endeavor of TECO.
